Best Method to Introduce Dog to People?

I just bought a dog from a local Dog Rescue (Boxer American Bulldog Mix.. 2yrs old). He has been very good and still is adjusting to his new home.

I have been able to stay home with him for a couple of days and one issue that I am facing is introducing him to some of my friends. He has nipped at one of my friends (male) hands while I was talking to my friend and also at one other friends (female) in a similiar situation. I immediately said NO BITING and then put him into his kennel.

I have read some good articles on what to do but am looking for more advice. I am going to take him obedience training and socialization very soon. I also read that I may want to get a muzzle until he is fully comfortable, but I am hesitant because he is taking in a lot at this time and he has had no history of aggressive behavior.

when people try to pet him do they move fast an try to pet his head before he smells them also some dogs just do not want there head petted this is out of there eye site . you may try using a leash when people come around let him smell them before they pet him also check his eye site,ears and a muzzle will only do more harm to him it makes dogs more aggressive keep him on a leash and train him to sit when people come around then when he feels relaxed let him off.putting him in a kennel will not help he does not understand.

Either keep him on a short leash by your side so that if he does try to nip you can correct him right away with a tug on the leash (nothing to strong just enough to get his attention). or you can get him a muzzle. but you are right he is taking in a lot right now but this cant wait there needs to be some sort of correction/ training right now.

I usually shake hands with the new (to the dog) person and then have that person offer his/her right hand to the dog to sniff. The mixture of new and familiar smells seems to reassure the dog. As a matter of safety, the hand is extended palm first, rather than fingers first.

One thing u don't want to do is put a dog in there kennel when they've done something wrong. because u don't want them to think that the kennel is a bad place for them its like there home u don't want them to hate there home u want them to love it. take them to doggy dare care because they will first start with socializing with dogs there size. then slowly start to socialize with close friends and family Females put them on a leash and do one at a time let them play a little. them move on to a male friend but still keep the dog on a leash and if the dog tries to nip take some apple bitter spray and give a couple quick sprays or you can get a training collar and put it on and give a quick pull and say leave it! it works we did it with our dog and she loves people and other dogs she is awesome!!
