I have 2 female pups (fostering them for 2 weeks and have had them 8 days) - both 6 months - and they have only had one visitor in the house so far. I mistakenly let a friend take my keys and enter the house by herself while I ran off to get some doggie supplies.
The dominant one started barking at her immediately and the other one followed. They did not get aggressive with her - just barked constantly.
I got home 40 minutes later to find both if them scared and hiding in the kitchen but still barking.
I have read a few things about how to introduce them properly BUT nothing talks about TWO dogs at the same time.
I am thinking I will put both of them in the bedroom and close the door (they seem to like this room), wait until we are settled with a glass of vino and then bring the dominant one out first on a lead and put her next to me.
My friend will have treats and i will tell her not to look directly at Katie or acknowledge. Slowly Katie should calm down and we will see if a few treats in a hand casually draped by my friends side will win her over.
The less dominant one is SURE to be barking and whimpering in the next bedroom - hates being left alone - but I guess I will have to deal with that. Should I pop her in her crate alone in the bedroom?
Once Katie is OK Feather will be bought out - hopefully she will take Katie's lead as Katie is the dominant one - and will not freak out too much.
A teaspoon of peanut butter should see Feather swooning (hopefully) and... that's the plan but I really do not want a house full of barking dogs to ruin wyhat is my first social interaction with real humans in over a week!
Am I right in doing the dominant one first or should I approach this completely differently - any tips welcome.
Thanks
