I am now4 and a half monthspost-op from a microdisectomy at L3-L4, I am experiencing numbness from my right knee, up through my thigh and over my buttock. Also, in my upper inner thigh and in between my legs.
I have a lengthy history of back pain:-
1986- Laminectomy at L5-L6
1989- Chemonucleolysis at L5-L6 (Chemonucleolysis was an experimental treatment for herniated disks which did not prove succesfuland left mewith back spasms)
1997- Facet joint injection at L5-L6, again unsuccessful.
1998- Refused further surgery, managed episodic back pain which was compounded with nerve pain down my lower right leg into my footby regular attendance at osteopaths-cost a fortune!!
I am now back at work (great)!! and am continuing to have pretty horrendeous bladder problems, I still catheterise 3-4 times daily, have had repeated infections, 7 courses of antibiotics since my op. I experience spasms- similar to cystitis symptoms which pass after a couple of hours and 4-5 litres of water. I am incontinent frequently outwith theses episodes but it appears that I have 'cauda equine syndrome'.
Has anyone heard of this? If so, can you offer advice on how to manage it?
