Boiance--WHEN?? :)

I keep hearing about Boiance face rests on here, and I can't find info on them anywhere!  Anybody here who's talked to a rep etc. who has info on when/where this product will debut?  I have a regular Earthlite Harmony facerest now, but my boyfriend suffers from major sinus problems and I'm looking for a squishier one.. I figured I'd check the Boiance out before rushing out to get a memory foam one, since I heard the latter can be *too* squishy sometimes.

OOH... I just googled it again.. http://www.Boiance.com is up, and the product is $99... I might have to wait a few paychecks, but I'll seriously consider it, even if I don't have one to squish in person, since I figure it can't be any worse than memory foam (not that memory foam's bad!)..   8)

yes texas gal, it's way better than those gel packs. actually, it's just totally different... i have those gel packs too. in fact, for some clients i put the cold pack on the bioance. most people really like it. every once in a while someone won't like to cold but i think it's refreshing.

anyway, i have the bioance and i really like it. the directions that come in the package tell you not to take it apart but of course, i didn't read the directions first. i was so excited to get it i opened it up and then wanted to see what was inside. well, it's really cool. basically it's really nice foam but then inside the foam there are some squishy, gel-type of balls in it. the outside is a different sort of fabric too. anyway, i think it's worth it. as i stated on another post, my clients noticed that the face rest was different and they said they liked it.

I've been using Boiance for several months now. I love it and highly recommend it. My clients breathe easier, some never even get congested when face down, and those that do, clear up very quickly when turned to supine. There is more space around the eyes, so people with contact lenses say it is more comfortable.

I've tried the Boiance face pillow as well. Here's a general overview of its design: It has two layers of foam with liquid balls spaced in between (like little water balloons). The top layer of foam is memory foam, and the bottom layer is traditional foam. The whole pillow is then covered in a fabric that seems to be some kind of stretch vinyl. This allows it to "give" as the client's face sinks into the top layer of foam. There are "eye wells" cut into the fabric which are designed to ease pressure on the eyes.

As far as I know, the pillow is only sold by the inventor, through the Boiance website. She's a nice person, however, and guarantees her product. She's also open to feedback and continues to strive to improve her design.

Now, the bad news. Although some therapists have indicated the Boiance pillow cuts down on sinus congestion, I didn't find this to be true. Only some of my clients have trouble with sinus congestion anyway, but those clients get congested with every face pillow I've tried, including this one. I don't think there's a face pillow on the market that eliminates sinus congestion altogether. Right now, the best you can hope for is a more comfortable cushion.

Can you also provide input on if there is the lovely "horseshoe look" from the face cradle coming (or not) if you use seamless covers?

My cradle covers don't have a forehead seam, so none of my clients are getting a line at the forehead from the pad itself. If I adjust the cover just right, they don't get cheek lines either, so in my opinion the pad is "seamless" as far as the horseshoe-face.

I did have one fairly large man who seemed to really smoosh his big head down into the face rest and he got some strange lines, I think from being so tense and pressing his head down so hard. :

I just ordered one of these, thanks to hearing what y'all have to say about it. I do have a CORE memory foam one that works great on my portable table and massage chair. I am hoping this one is less squishy (but equally if not more comfortable) and therefore more suitable for the table in my office and all of it's extra padding!

It's really heavy, so it doesn't adhere well to cradle frames when they are in the down position. I have one client who really loves it; the others can't tell any difference between it and the $50 CORE tempurpedic foam that they are used to.

As for saving the sinuses, I used it myself for a 90 minute session and was as stuffy as ever, so that didn't fly with me.

Eventually, since I spend a lot of time each week with the client who likes it and we both equally detest the face cradle on her Golden Ratio table, I basically just gifted it to her and I went back to the CORE for my office.

I hear there is a buzz on line about the Boiance pillow!!

Patricia, my clients have raved about the Boiance face cradle! Last week one of my best clients mentioned an embarrassing problem that he was having... It wasn't his problem though, it was the face cradle that I used to have (which is under the cabinet, now that I have a Boiance face cradle). He mentioned how he would typically feel as if his nose would drip, I'm sure it did. He now raves about how his head feels 10 times lighter resting in a Boiance Face Pillow!

I received mine last week! (Thanks Patricia!) It's so comfortable! But I find when I put a face cover on it, it takes away some of the distinction so I am looking for face covers that will compliment this face pillow. Anyone come across ones that fit well and are thin enough to still feel the difference?

I use very thick cradle covers and still feel the difference. In fact it seems to improve it. I use first a thin cotton cover that is cut large to accomodate the whole thing without getting bound up, then over the top of that I lay a polar fleece cradle drape. The cotton cover keeps the drape from sliding around, and not only do they NOT get face lines, but they also don't have those pressure spots from too small cradle covers that can't stretch or move enough to accomodate pressure from the face.

I LOVE my boiance and am so happy I got it. My previous face cradle was one of those nice Stronglite ones, so it is fine for outcalls, working at home, etc.
