A Bonnyville massage therapist has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and his membership with the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta suspended.
In a news release Thursday, RCMP said they initiated an investigation into the therapist on March 26 after a report of a sexual assault.
Police said the victim alleged she went to a business for a massage and during the treatment was touched in a sexual manner. While investigating, police learned of a second female victim who said she was touched in a similar way.
According to court records, the sexual assaults allegedly happened on or about March 7, 2019, and on or between Nov. 1, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2013.
Jason Traxler, 49, is charged with two counts of sexual assault.
He was released after his arrest and is set to appear in Bonnyville provincial court on Sept. 3.
The Massage Therapist Association of Alberta has suspended his membership due to the allegations.
Bonnyville is 240 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
