Buying and shipping issues from Amazon.com (Newbie)

Hi. I'm currently really interested to buy some interesting books from Amazon.com. However, this is my first time and I really need some confidence and feedback from anyone, especially on purchasing used books.

How long does it take to ship books from overseas (I'm from Singapore, btw) using Amazon.com services. Can there be a option for different shipping methods (USPS, UPS ?).

I use Amazon (USA) often and I've never had shipping problems. When checking out it will give you shipping options (1-day, 2-day, ground, etc) to choose from.
 
I use the UK site most of the time and recently got an order via a seller in the US in less than a week. I have never had any problems using amazon at all.
