Can i use coconut meat instead of coconut oil? (on my face as a massage thing)?

I have just made a bottle of coconut milk with mature coconuts. I know that i can take oil out of the milk but i need to save it for making sorbet. So do you think i can use the left over coconut flakes? i probably took most of the oil out when making the milk but isn't there still some left in it? if i mix it with water into paste and apply to my face, will it have the same affect as the oil?

Also, can i just grind the meat with water (without making the milk) and apply to face when all the oil is intact?

If you have extracted oil from the flesh and are left with dried flakes or meat....you could dry this further and grind it into a powder and use as a face pack alongside anything else you might want to use ....or could use it as a mild exfoliant ....perhaps with lesser grinding rather than a powder.

After extraction there is apparently: "virgin coconut oil and food-grade, full protein, medium fat coconut flakes" [ http://www.allbusiness.com/manufacturing/food-manufacturing-grain-oilseed-milling/334664-1.html ] Thus you still have some fat in there....perhaps especially so if you have extracted it yourself.

...i don't see why you shouldn't grind the intact meat with water and use that as you are suggesting as an alternative. You could certainly try that and see if you are happy with the results.
