Can Indian head be used as onsite massage

Hi People,

can anyone please help i am trying to get going with corporate on-site massage, using my Indian head qualification. I had been lead to believe that is would be suitable to use in this way and so i took the course at my college alongside my ITEC holistic massage course. I have recentley contacted a couple of larger companies who give this treatment and look for people to work for them to get some experience, but i have been told that i need a chair massage qualification and i can do the course with them.
But to be honest since September i have done the following courses:
holistic massage
hot stone massage/facial
indian head
facial beginner/advanced
manicure/pedicure
and waxing.
I have very little money left and hoped that this would be enough qualification to be mobile and corporate. Im all coursed out for now.

Any advice would be very much appreciated

Hi there

I do onsite massage twice a month in a large company. The treatments I offer are IHM and Reiki and all I'm using is a normal office chair. Off course you can do a chair massage course (I'm thinking of doing it next year to improve my skills) but an Indian head massage qualification is fine for now. It's a very popular treatment!
You can also get a folding chair from Argos and make it more comfortable with cushions at the back.

Hi

I have been doing corporate massage for almost 4 years now. I have regular weekly contracts and have been throughout britain doing this work. Where i work the agents stay at their desks, log off the phones and have their massage! I also have Indian head massage qualification and it is accepted by all the companies i work with. Hope this helps

Hi ya Absolute

I don't know your exact situation, but I would emphasis the fact that IHM is chair massage! It is ideal for corperate visits and highly beneficial as a form of applied stress management!

You could mix the IHM routine with additional back massage, by palming, frictions and percussions that can easily be done through the clothes. Also you could add hand and arm massage, stating that it benefits RSI for example.

I do realise some organisations may like the chair/on-site/seated/so-called acupressure massage qualification, but if you use your qualifications and present it as a package, you may be able to achieve what you wish to do (professionally and ethically as well).

My Hopi ear candle tutor teaches seated massage at a reasonable price, check out www.pressuredowntherapies.net I haven't done the course as I have my own way of doing it (ie Chinese Acupressure, IHM and Thai Massage, and as a Tai Chi/Qi Gong Instructor have good working posture). Andrew is a good tutor and has interesting ideas on effective massage practice. He also does seated massage DVD's.

Nurse Natural - I'm doing on-site massage at a friends office! It's worth checking with your friends and ex-colleagues if anyone knows of a company that would benefit from on-site massage.

Absolute - it's very exciting and also scary to start up on your own! I'm only half-way there yet....
