...help me. I'm just a newbie here.ty? in each of the following cases, state how the various readings of spring balance will compare if the balance is attached to the top of an elevator and supports a constant mass. state your reasoning for each case.
a.) elevator at rest
b.) moving with constant speed
c.) moving with constant speed downward
d.) moving upward with steadily increasing speed
e.) moving with steadily decreasing speed
f.) moving downward with acceleration g

a b & c are all the same by Newton's 1st Law

d. Reads Higher by Newton's 2nd Law. We have the acceleration of gravity + acceleration of elevator thus the A in F=MA is greater, mass is constant ===> Force is greater

e. Reads lower by Newton's 2nd Law. gravity - acceleration of elevator A is smaller ==> Force is smaller

f : Reads 0. By Newton's 2nd Law. Acceleration of elevator = gravity ==> A = 0 ===> Force = 0
