...introduce peanuts to children? I also am wondering why peanut allergy seems to be a huge thing when I read English language articles and watch English language television from American, but where I live right now (middle east) it's almost unheard of even though peanuts and boiled peanuts especially are so popular to eat.
@DJ19 - I doubt it has anything to do with formula because formula is not uncommon here either and we get some of the same brands. The Israelis especially have most of the same products you have in America and not much peanut allergy in Israel.

Yes you can eat peanuts while nursing or during pregnancy. And introducing peanuts to children who are 1 years old and up. Not a large amount at first, must see if they are allergic. I think there are tests to check.

Yes you can eat peanuts and peanut butter when you're pregnant and breastfeeding. It's not as though the peanut butter slides through your veins as is and comes out as breast milk ha. Your body breaks down food and uses water and nutrients from your diet to create breast milk. Your baby is feeding off your blood stream while your pregnant as well so no it's not going to harm them.

Peanuts can cause an allergy if given to babies before the age of one. Its probably not any more common here than there but americans blow everything out of the water and are very dramatic so it is just more wide spread information here.

best to avoid them if u have allergies in your and your partners family... i ate peanuts, peanut butter.. etc throughout my pregnancy and my boy came out heatlhy and fine. theres no evidence too say eating peanuts while pregnant causes allergies tho.. or makes them immune. just eat them but in small amounts. goodluck!! =]

Peanut Allergy is a huge thing here because the Baby Formuals and extra vitamins given to infants over here contain PEANUTS so the little baby's system cant digest it causing food allergies to peanuts. You can eat peanuts all you want, your body produces breastmilk that only has nutrients and good stuff and necessary stuff for baby's and at the same time keeps everything baby can't eat away from the breastmilk. So that is why it is unheard of in ANY other nation besides the States.

The truth is babies here are fed Powdered Formula "Milk" from cows and added chemicals and preservatives so US kids end up fat and usually dumber then other countries, but that's because of our level of education is substandard.

so don't worry about it, you are fine, enjoy your peanuts and relax!
