Car Door Magnets & window decals- Good Advertising or no?

I was goofing around on Vista Print last night and noticed they do car door magnets & window decals. They have some really nice ones geared toward massage as well. There are a few other businesses in our area that use these instead of traditional whole-vehicle paint jobs or that sort so it's not a foreign concept in my market area at all. I'm just curious if it would seem unprofessional in any way, or if anyone has used these in the past and how it worked out?

We have them on the car we use the most. Not so sure whether it's such "good advertising" or not (and you do need to be mindful of how you drive, since you're representing your business and all with them ), but it makes every mile we drive tax-deductible (for advertising)!

We did get two of VP's "large" car door magnets, and have been pretty pleased with the quality so far. We've had them on the car for ummm.... 2 and a half months.

I already have to be very careful how I drive. Not only do I usually have at least one kid with me {though obviously I don't when I'm not working} but because of my blue star and proud wife of a soldier magnets on my back hatch, I am representing my husband and our unit, so I feel like I have to 'behave' as it were.

Did you use one of their stock images or submit your own? I found one of their premade ones that I really like, but wonder if it wouldn't be misleading in a way because the therapist in the image they use is about half my girth. {I'm working on that but it took two years to put it on so my trainer says to expect at least half that to take it off}

Just don't leave the Car Magnets on. They can really jack up the paint under them that way which my GF and I almost found out the hard way. Luckily some nice auto-body people we knew buffed it out for us.

We do leave them on all the time. I need to give "washing the car and magnets" as a job to one of my kids.

We used our logo.... which we also got from VP. So it was, like, "already there", but "ours". LOL! I dislike using "stock massage images" for anything for our business because... well, because it is EXTREMELY misleading, because my hubby is a GUY and none of those images are obviously NOT ME, and it would look REALLY BAD for him to be toting around "some other woman" on his marketing materials, when WE are in business together..... I'm not saying this right, but I think you get the picture.... lol!

Had to chime in on this! I see a therapist that gives out very nice business cards that have a small magnet on the back. When I first saw this I thought that was somewhat odd because it's a little cumbersome in terms of the shape and size. But, I can say that it went directly on my frigerator and I see it every day. Just an idea!

An alternative to car magnets is the 'film' used for car wrapping. You can put that film on the windows and still see through it, but from the outside you can't see in. This would prevent possible paint problems for the car and it would stay on all the time.

I happen to work for a company that does this (among other things) and it looks really cool. You can PM me if you want the info - I don't know if it would be cool to :spam4: the forum with the website info or not.

Ooh! True story here!

I dated an LMT about 5 years ago, she drove a Nissan Pathfinder. On her back window, and each of her rear side windows, she had affixed huge permanent lettering, saying simply "MASSAGE" and her phone number. That was it. She fielded a number of inquiries every week from that simple setup. Yes, she had to weed out a few kooks, but isn't that to be expected? My brother in law, who is legitimately in advertising, scoffed at her signage, referring to it as too lowbrow. But, the bottom line is that it made her phone RING.

If I ever drive a vehicle that would allow me to duplicate that, I'm on it. I say go for it.

And my amateur understanding of tax law is that a magnetic sign does NOT qualify a vehicle as a total tax write off.

Gotta agree with Snackdaddy - it's highly unlikely that any mileage is deductible due to a magnet or sticker advertising your business. With a (soon-to-be) father-in-law who works for the IRS, I've learned about all sorts of things I was told were deductible (in school, by other MTs, in continuing education classes, etc.), that are most definitely not deductible at all.
