Car seat and disc problems

I have a history of back problems. Have had a discectomy and decompression and am having more disc problems at the minute. A few people have mentioned to me about the type of car and the car seat and how it helped them by changing their car. Or how their back hurts after driving and so on. I have a golf that I adore however if in any way the seat ( which I don't find that supportive) is contributing to my back pain and the resulting surgery and months our of action then I am willing to change my car. Anyone else have any thoughts about this? Have you changed your car due to back issues? Does a higher car 4x4 make it easier than a smaller car? What cars work for you?? Got the the point where I am looking into everything to try and help prevent further back issues...

I went from a vw golf to 3 series bmw (Automatic) to a range rover to an e220 merc and then currently to renault trafic van. (I love my motors!) Believe it or not the van was by far the most comfortable seat i've sat in ever. Its built for full time drivers so it makes sense that it should be correctly aligned. 4x4's are more or less the same seating really its just a higher chassis (higher climb in & out). Not that easy on the back with baby seats..

The only other car that comes close to the van is the Toyota avensis which i had for 3 weeks as a hire car. It had the best back support and upright seating position in any car ive driven. As your aware of my situation from my earlier post i reckon i too will be changing this year to hopefully an avensis automatic.

This is me all over. I'm 6'5" and have always driven smaller cars, at the moment I've found my Peugeot 206 seat really uncomfortable for extended drives. I wouldn't swap my car for it as I couldn't possibly afford to do that

I Might be worth investing in a lumbar support to reduce tension on your disk.

The physio has said that the height of your hips and legs in relation to your back is something to bear in mind as it makes u curve ur back rather than keep a natural curve. Does that make sense.
