On another site I posted some suggestions for married men to protect their anonymity and gaurd against blackmail. A couple of those recommendations are to get a Postal Annex type mail box and use it (1) to get a Califonia ID card, and (2) a seperate bank account. Those afraid of blackmail might also use it to register their car. You can also get a prepaid credit card at many check cashing places. The usage fees are high and they are tricky to use in TJ, but they are better than letting a wife see withdrawals made in TJ.

Firebalss you hit the nail on the head ! The biggest problem is having your wife/loved one find you are withdrawing money in TJ ! The ATMs on revolution seem the best bet with traffic around, though one has to still be cautious. I prefer the ATMs where you can swipe the card, instead of the ones where you insert ! Too many insertions in ATMs or Pussys can be dangerous, as sometime the card or the dick is stuck and unretreviable until next business day !

It's no more dangerous using your ATM card on Revolution then it is in most majors cites as there are tons of people walking and driving the streets all HOURs of the day. If an ATM eats your card it's a malfunction not some kind of SCAM to get your card, anyway I don't lose any SLEEP worrying about card eathing ATM machines.

The real danger using your ATM card is if you are MARRIED and your wife finds out you been withdrawing money in Tijuana - now that's something to be WORRIED about!

The closer an ATM is to the Zona the more risk there is in using that particular ATM. ATMs near the ZN are not especially dangerous, just more so than those in other downtown areas. The ATM on the left at San Boruns (8th and Revolucion) gives dollars.

I prefer to use an ATM where I swipe my card instead of inserting it. That way it can't "eat" my card either through a malfuction or a scam.

If you live/spend a lot of time in Tijuana using pesos will save you a little money over time. (Most places in TJ give a lower exchange rate than you get at a casa de cambio; some only give a 10:1 exchange). For the average monger or tourist it doesn't really matter.

On another site I posted a lot of information about banks, ATMs, etc. The major Mexican banks have US partners. I have an account with Banocomer in San Diego. I can withdraw money (in pesos) without a fee at their ATMs in TJ, while my money is the US protected by FDIC insurance, a $50.00 theft loss, etc. Plus I get a free US checking account.

i tried getting some money out the ATM a while back and the machine didnt take it. I thought it was odd because i had taken money out of the same machine on previews trips.
the lesson...just do it in the US or you might miss out on htat super hot chick you wanted to bang but couldnt cus of lack of funds.

I always use the ATM machine in the bank on Revolution and 2nd street, lots of lighting and people walking the streets. Most ATM machines give Pesos, if your interested in dollars, the AM/PM like store on 7th street just to the east of Revolution gives you a choice dollars or Pesos, but sometimes that machine isn't working.

Before going in Tijuana are are a few ATM machines on the other side of the bridge where I like to park, because it's cheaper, only $5 by Jack in the Box, and lots of ATM machines around where the trolly is.

I believe I saw where an ATM machine was added between Coahuila and First recently. I will have to recheck, but I am pretty sure.

You can get U.S. cash from some of the ATM's. Peso are better at most local bars and with the street girls. Revolution strips clubs it is better to use dollars or you get cheated on the exchange rate. It's kind of hard to tip the strippers with pesos.
ATM locations are kinda hard to explain. Just keep your eye out for them. I don't know the cross street but its there is one on the West side of Revolution that puts out U.S. Dollars. Also the Big Red bus station has an ATM but it closes early.

Hello Folks !
Any good advice on withdrawing cash at ATMs near the Zona. Last time I took a Hong Kong guy waiter with me an ATM machine, and guess what he got arrested by the cops. I was given a tough time, but I stood my ground and they let me go. They claimed the waiter was a thief blah blah, and they took him for a round and extrated some cash.
Anyway, question is need info on good ATM machines, safety first, and I know you get money in Pesos.
On Broader subject, what would you advise, carry Dollars or Pesos or both.
