Cash flow to owners...

I have been toying with the idea of starting a spa. I have a bit of extra coin that I would like to invest in a business. I prefer (as stated in other threads) a higher end spa and would want to open similar (although I would guess that a busy low end spa probably makes a better margin).

Kayla / Paul / Joy / anyone. What are the rough economics of the business? I don't need details but some guidelines would be interesting.

I understand that there are significant legal obstacles but I am sure that the recent holistic licence issue in TO and the limitation on # of spas in Brampton etc should scare some current owners out and I could work something out there.

I doubt very much that Kayla/Paul/Joy or anyone else with a MP would be much interested in facilitating a new competitor so I wouldn't be holding your breath.

It's not an easy business to run and stay in. There are a thousand facets to understand not the least of which is a landlord, the municpality, CRA's attention from employing staff that might not npay tax, STAFF! Did I mention STAFF? You think these girls are finicky when you are their client, try being their boss!

If all you have is "a little bit of extra coin .. to invest in a business" and don't know anything about it and don't want to run it yourself you will soon have an even littler bit of extra coin!
