I've studied and practiced Tai Chi and Chi Kung under a legitimate instructor. I've studied and practiced some martial arts that include various "energy"-related techniques and drills. I've studied and practiced a wide variety of stretching and exercise methods (including yoga), and make a living teaching them to clients, classes, trainers, and medical professionals.
Tai Chi is (or at least WAS)
a martial art with an "energy" component that is practiced via
mental and physical exercises incorporating visualization, breathing, and movement. It can be very beneficial if practiced well and consistently, preferably under the guidance of an experienced teacher. I loved my time in Chen Tai Chi, and have recommended it to many others.
BUT
There are also many other forms of exercise that can give you as many or more benefits, mentally, physically, and even energetically. I teach some of them, and daily reap the rewards from my own practice of these other methods.
