Four weeks ago, I had a deep tissue chinese massage. I told the man that the pain was only in my back, nowhere else. He was working on me reasonably hard, and because I have severe back problems, I told him that he could go a little harder. That part went well. But then he starting doing my arms, and I said "Too hard", please go softer. He said "No pain, no gain". It started becoming very uncomfortable, then progressed to severely painful, but I did not want to offend him, and he said that I could only benefit from it. So...I let him run his course.
1 hour after, I noticed that both of my bicep muscles had completely swollen up like two balloons, and they were as hard as a rock in the middle of the Arizona desert. The next day, ALL of the muscles in both of my arms from the elbows up were severely swollen, extremely tender, very sore, stiff, ALLMOST IMMOBILE. Two days later, my inner forearm muscles became hard too. They have been like this for a month. Listen, I'm a lazy guy, with just skin over bone, and someone on the street was asking me how much weight I benchpress. Then I began to panic. Then my panic went to an actual attack, when an orthopedic surgeon told me that he has suspected that I have had Fibromyalgia for a long time.
I went on super powerful high dose anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxants( Valium and Ativan) for two weeks and NO CHANGE. I applied Ice for a week, and have rested my arms for over 28 days, and nothing has changed. I'm seeing my GP tomorrow. What did this man do to me on the massage table? What has happened to the muscles in my arms? Is this soft tissue trauma? Will it go away? I have now developed nerve pain in both arms from the shoulders down to the fingers. A combination of dull, throbbing, aching pain and sharp, stinging pain. Do I need to have imaging studies done to see what is going on inside? I have just taken a Xanax tablet. Why? Because I want you to be brutally honest with me about what you think has happened to me. So, be totally honest, and I will be sedated. And remember, I'm seeing my GP tomorrow.
YES, I am an idiot for not going down to the hospital. Please don't rub it in my face. I stuffed up...big time. If you think you know what has happened, or if you think this injury has turned into an actual disease or infection or a pathological high grade trauma situation, please type down a few possible things that my doctor might diagnose me with. I look forward to your replies.
Thank you for your time.
