Choppy audio over chat and instant messaging?

Every time I try to do an audio chat with someone over MSN Messenger, Skype, Yahoo, or Xfire, my friend can hear me fine, but their voice is unintelligible because it's so choppy and robotic. My connection is fast enough to support it and the video quality is fine. I tried clearing my QoS packet and nothing happened. Oddly enough, my audio is fine over Ventrilo.
