Christians and Reiki Article

I found this article on Christians who both want to practice Reiki or have had experiences while practicing because some Christians do not understand what Reiki is so they back off in fear that it goes against their beliefs.

Interesting. I guess it's going to depend on what tradition a person practices... some Christian groups will be more open to Reiki, while others will probably never accept it.

Even then there will be individuals who hold different opinions, but are comfortable (or unaware) with the tension between their experience and their tradition's current doctrine.

My grandma is Southern Baptist, but was fascinated and delighted by the energy work she experienced at a breast cancer retreat.

I agree. There are so many variations of beliefs and practices, and within each there are huge variances in adherance to those beliefs & practices, that saying "Christian" is nearly meaningless anymore. Then there are personal comfort levels that can be attributed to a belief system, but are really more personal than that, and have nothing to do with the person's church association.

Thank you so much for this link. I've saved it. It 's a good one for those people I encounter that are interested in this work but afraid due to misinformation and dogma.

As an aside, I've actually had people afraid of getting a massage due to being "Christian". That kind of fear is so sad to me.

Isn't it?
I had one woman who could not relax and kept asking me if I was a Christian, that she would feel better about the massage if she knew I was a Christian. I don't discuss my religious beliefs with massage clients regardless if they are compatible or not. Sadly, this is happened several times.

I always say reincarnation is from St. Peter at the pearly gates asking people if they had a massage or not.
God had set up massage on Earth to help us out here and if you went without getting one, you have to go back.

That is very odd about the woman who came in for the massage. Next time it happens tell the client that you are helping them feel better and to heal which is what God would want for them. It might jive better. You are all welcome for the article I thought it was a good idea to post
