CHARLOTTE – This week I worked with several people who have chronic pain. Generally speaking, when you come into our offices (this is taught in most massage schools as well) your issue can be addressed and possibly eradicated within eight sessions. We would love to continue seeing you forever but the reality is that it’s not realistic unless you win the lottery. And honestly, you don’t want to have to continue to spend time and money coming to see us, unless we are seeing progress. We prefer to help you with your pain issue and get you to a place where you come to us to either maintain your new comfort level or for maintenance.
With this said, remember when you walk in the door, your issue has been weeks, months, and more than likely, years in the making. I can almost guarantee that if you walk into a session with any licensed massage therapist in the area, you’re going to find some sort of pain relief and you’ll walk out feeling better. You may even walk out with your problem solved, but that’s probably the exception to the rule.
Pain that has gone unsolved or ignored for months and sometimes years is probably not going to disappear overnight. Working with your massage therapist you can teach your muscles to respond as intended. You can also teach the brain to return the nerve patterns back to their original intentions before they decided to alter themselves so they could alleviate any discomfort.
