Cinco De Mayo

I was in Tijuana on a rare afternoon visit on "CincoDeMayo" but I didn't expect a celebration nor did I see one. But I was there very early between 12 and 3 and only Hong Kong and AB are busy in the afternoon. Later I went to BT and it started to get a little busy.

Really if you ask me only the streets are good with a lot of SGs in the afternoon.

Later I wanted to catch a "CincoDeMayo" celebration here in the states where it's really an excuse to drink than a Mexican Holiday, but it could be lot of fun if you go to the right bar or Mexican restaurant with the bar. But I just stayed home instead because everybody was working except for me.

OH BTW for those of you that are scared thinking TJ is dangerous. I never felt more safe than my last visits, especially during the days.

Yes, Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican army over the French invading forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
I guess the Zona celebrates it with severe necking in the alleys and dancing at the clubs...
By all means go...


PS: I do laugh at the fact of you Americans joking about doing the girls BB... not me.

Thanks Amigo ! Whats the significance of Sinco Mayo ? I heard its more fun in the zona today, some of other board members have gone there this weekend for it. Perhaps today is sin condom sex day I guess

Sorry Bohemian... we Mexicans don't celebrate 5 de Mayo as a festivity per se as it is done in the USA on a Sunday.
It isn't a day off for us. Only politicians go for the photo op.
I gather it'll be business as usual at TJ, but with extra public due to the fight between De la Hoya Vs. Mayweather.
Just be carefull who you root for... remember you are in Mexico and supposedly, De la Hoya "represents" Mexico.

Here I am starting a new temp post. I think today is Cinco De Mayo, so should be fun in TJ. I couldnt make it this weekend, havent been for several, but today was a good day, should be very crowded though. If anyone wants to share their adventures about today.
