Client Files

For those of us who work in a salon or spa and keep our own client files...  where do you keep them?  I have thought about keeping them at home and just bringing in the files I need for that day, but what if I have a client just call up and want in that day?  Suggestions?  Comments??  BTW  a laptop would be ideal... to have at least an electronic file, but is $$  out of the question at the moment.

At one spa I worked at we kept the files in binders next to the front desk.  The other spa the files were in a filing cabinet.  I also have a file box and index cards that I write my notes on.  There was never enough room on the forms or in the binders.

That is where I have kept mine in the past, but I know that's not an option at this new salon.  Hmmm

Client Files

I would make sure that if I had client files and a file cabinet that it locked and I had the only key. I'd also spell it out in the contract with the place that the clients intake forms belong to you.I kept mine at home, and generally speaking the clients who would schedule with "short notice" where regulars anyway. Besides, I always kept a supply of fresh intake forms there at the salon and could merely "staple" their new one to their old one.

since I'm still new at this client stuff. I keep my own records at home. The facility has a place for intake but I make my own when I get home. I have not had the unepected happen yet with a booking so, it's okay. I just hate coming home and doing more paper work.  But i do it so it will become a habit.
