Greetings! I am a relatively new LMT (about 6 months) and I have a question regarding a new client. She revealed to me as we were booking the appointment that she is in a 10 day alcohol detox program. She also said that she has only two previous massage experiences, a good one with deep tissue work, and a very negative with the after effects of a lymphatic drainage massage.
Unfortunately, at this time I don't know how far in to her 10 days she is, but I will find out when she comes in.
My question is (because we didn't talk about alcoholism and massage in school, just consumption before or after) are there any precautions I should take to ensure that this client isn't negatively affected? I imagine that she may be emotionally tender during this time, and I'm prepared for that. I guess I just want to be sure I don't make her more uncomfortable that she probably already is.
TIA for your thoughts!
