Hi all

Just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience of clients not acheiving instant results and putting reflexology down? It's zapped my confidence a bit and I found out that a client had taken the micky out of me and reflexology in a very public way. It was her first time and it's a shame that others will get such a negative view of what I love to do and do to help people

I usually tell them that they will start to see/notice a difference in themselves after about 3 treatments.

Ignore! client not aware of how reflexology works? so decide to put you down because maybe expected instant results?

It appears to me that Reflexology has had quite an impact on this lady. I wonder if she would have bothered talking about it with what sounds like a great deal of energy and passion if her experience had been a non event !

Thanks all for your comments. I find maternity reflexology, which this was, can be more challenging sometimes as clients can expect instant results. I will learn from this though and state more clearly that baby really will come along when he/she is ready but that mat reflex can help the body to prepare

Sorry to hear that Deannah. Am surprised she tried reflexology if she thought she might react like this. Did she give any signs during the treatment that she was not impressed? I find that most people enjoy it even if they aren't convinced of the health benefits.

A neighbour came to see me once for a treament to help with her rheumatoid arthritis. She enjoyed the treatment and said she felt really good for a day or two but then went back to normal. She concluded from this that reflexology didn't work. I pointed out that if she'd been given a drug that made her feel better for a day or two she'd be back to the GP's for more of the drug but she wasn't convinced.

This was at a time when I was fairly newly qualified and she'd just turned up on the doorstep and asked for a treatment there and then and I'd agreed. Caught on the hop and because she's quite a strong character and I was pretty nervous I don't think I explained enough to her about the cumulative effects of reflexology and what to expect.

I'm very clear with people now and would also never agree to a treatment then and there any more as it confused the boundaries.

It was a learning experience!

I've had a few people who've said to me "I've heard reflexology makes your symptoms worse before they get better, I dont want to get sicker!!"

It is difficult when people don't understand the complexities of the healing process and how it works. I had a client who came to me for 2 weeks, then said she was going on holiday in a few weeks time and didn't want to come in case her symptoms got worse for her holidays!!! I just look at it as these people are not ready to be healed.

Similar incidents have happened to most of us. Such kind of slagging off can happen as the resistence to further improve/let go of a disese or condition comes up. Ordinarily most people cannot recognise how subtle these things are. sometimes even trained people can't see it!

You obviously feel disapproved. Feel that. Allow that energy to move out of your system. Then give yourself lots of approval, lots! Don't look for it outside, give yourself all your approval!

Dis-approving of what she is doing to you may seem natural respense but you are cooperating with her negativity. So sit with it a bit longer and feel this disapproval for her. Allow this energy to move through you and leave. Then give her approval (you don't have to agree with her) not for her sake but your own. But do it generously and you will feel so light. Try it.

To Keep us clear and unblocked is our personal responsibility. People do what they do. Don't get too involved with their actions. Do not identify with their energy and stuff and nonsense!
Be completely honest within how you feel and allow that feeling to be felt. In doing so they release you. You will have peace instantly.
