Hi

I have a potential client who is pregnant and had a blood clot 10 years ago. She has had a baby since and didn't have any problems then. She does suffer from varicose veins on one leg.

If i got her to get her GP's or midwife permission would any of you work on her or avoid totally.

I too have had this happen to me and initially my thoughts were to avoid like the plague but then I realised that actually because of her past medical history she would be monitored like no other by the medical staff and probably be much safer than many of my other pregnant clients who could still have a DVT even though they had never had one before. You have done extra training for pregnancy from what I remember reading and so know what to look out for and when to be seriously concerned. I would certainly get permission from the medical staff looking after her, but that said yes, I personally would treat. I also treated a pregnant lady who had had a dvt in the past and was on heparin throughout her pregnancy - I had permission from the medical staff. She was monitored by them very carefully and very regularly, and she found that reflexology really helped her to cope with things and relax much more. She went on to have a beautiful baby girl.
