i am having a new client on monday and she has this.

anyone treated folk with colitis or crohn's and want to share their experiences. how it went?

i do believe reflexology should have a benefit to this condition but i'm thinking, if its chronic, there may be a substantial healing crisis... i'll explain that to the client.

what say you?

Hi there Rosie, I'll be really interested to find out how you get on because I may be getting a client who has Crohns disease. I've only ever treated clients with IBS, which responded very favourably to reflexology. With one lady whose IBS was chronic she had a bit of a healing crisis, but she was prepared for it and things did settle down nicely. It really helped to calm her bowel and ease discomfort. Good luck with your new lady and I look forward to your report.

apparently, the NACC, (colitis and crohn's charity) had an article about someone benefitting from reflexology, which is what prompted her to look for a therapist. lets hope i can live up to the expectation... although, of course i will not claim a cure <g>. (candie, you'll get that one )

One I can answer. One of my case studies has Sinusitis, Colitis, Enlarged prostate, and a few other ailments, mostly muscular/joints.

However the Colitis was quite severe, and he had bouts that would leave him extremely tired, and in pain, he had bloody faeces, piles, constipation, all sorts.

Well he is a changed man, nothing much for the first 4 treatments, then he had to cancel as he had a really bad fortnight, and he's been clear ever since.

Still got a way to go on the prostate though.

p.s. Be patient, go very gently over the colon, rectum, for the first few sessions.

I haven't treated anyone with colitis so far, only IBS, but I think the two are not all that similar really, although IBS may lead to colitis depending on the cause. Colitis/Crohns is very serious and has all sorts of knock on health problems.

I want to treat my friends daughter who has this (Mum blames it on MMR) and has had a colostomy (age 20!!), but now with a new bowel (type of bag intalled). When speaking to her about it, all the usual advice we give re diet and drinks is completely redundant as what we would regard as a good diet is disastrous for her. Fibre and fruit whiz through and she has to eat lots of pasta etc and little of the good stuff.

She also has gained weight because of this and various meds etc. this leads to quite understandable depression and poor body image (awful scars on stomach) and consequent relationship problems.
She feels really ill a lot of the time and has been back in hospital for pancreatitis type episodes.

So hopefully your client hasn't reached this stage and I'm sure it will really help her holistically. Will be really interested in your findings.

My friends daughter hates having her feet touched at the mo but hope I can help her one day. ( I treat her Mum occasionally and she is training for reflex in the autumn)
