Color Coding CD Containers

Currently I have been color coding my CD collection (which will eventually be done with colored cases).

For those who are looking for ideas, here are a few I came across which will work for me. Other ideas are welcome!



As I mentioned, until I purchase colored cases, I am color coding via paper. Here's what I've done:

• Purchase colored papers (I went to Wal-Mart and bought a pack of 6 multi-colors plus an additional 2 packs of one color - all for about $6.00 & I have plenty left over. You could also go to a local copy store and just purchase individual sheets).
• Cut the colored paper into pieces 5 & 7/8" long by 1 & 1/4" high. Cut the number of strips in accordance to the number of CD's for that music type that you have.
• Insert the strip into the back cover so that the colored strip shows through (the length of the strip is enough to include the spines on either side).
• Replace CD "innerd's", and you're ready to rumble!
  
  
  The colors I chose were as follows for my personal collection:
  
  • Gold/Brown - Native American Music
  • Purple - Asian Music
  • Green - Deep Relaxation Music
  • Orange - Mystical Journey Music
  • Yellow - Refreshing Tranquility Music
  • Red - Guitar Music
  • Blue - Water/Ocean Music
  • Pink - Classical Music
  • White - Other Music

Most stores will carry the slimline version of colored CD cases.

I don't like slimlines, because I can't read the name of my CD on the spine with those, so I did a little searching and found multicolors in the regular size cases. Between the following two types you can end up with 8 individual colors for your rack!

• TDK Multi Color Standard CD Case - Pack of 10
  Comes in Red, Orange, Green, Blue, and Purple.

Very good idea! Not sure when I'll get around to doing anything of the sort, myself...but you never know. Organizing is something I tend to do in spurts, as there are just so many other demands on my time. But if you're ever in the area
