Three people were arrested Monday in the midst of an investigation into alleged prostitution at a massage parlor in Jewett City.
Connecticut State Police said investigators were serving a search warrant at Jewett City Massage Therapy, located at 7 School Street in Griswold, when they learned that a patron was actively engaged in sexual activity on the premises.
An employee of the massage parlor tried to flee out of the rear door as state police entered the building and was apprehended shortly thereafter. Two other suspects were also arrested.
Jordan A. Zeppieri, 26, of Griswold was charged with soliciting sexual acts.
Yue E. Zhang, 44, of Flushing, New York, was charged with prostitution. Yuanfang Sheng, 51, of Oakland Gardens, New York, was charged with prostitution and interfering with an officer.
The three suspects were released on $1,000 non-surety bonds and are scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Feb. 1.
State police said they were serving a warrant at Jewett City Massage Therapy after members of the Connecticut State Police Statewide Organized Crime Investigative Task Force initiated an investigation earlier this month into alleged prostitution activity at the massage parlor. The investigation was launched following numerous complaints made about the massage parlor with the Jewett City Resident Trooper’s Office.
State police said detectives during the investigation were able to confirm that sexual acts were being offered in exchange for money.
