Consent form for taster sessions

I'm sure this questions has been asked before, but wondered what you think I should include in a consent form (or if I should include a consent form) for 10 min taster session of IHM and massage? I've been asked to help out at a local childrens' centre.

No, don't bother, unless this session is going to be more than an one off. If you have been invited to attend/take part, then it's probably a 'given' that you are likely to be treating kids, and they should have guardian or parents with them. Make sure you have plenty of leaflets to hand out though, and if people come to see you afterwards for a full session, at that point you would have to have consent forms on hand.

Hi there,

Do mean consultation form? If so, it's absolutely necessary even for tasters. Have a checklist of potential contraindications to run through with clients and have a disclaimer for them to sign.

Tasters are simply shortened versions of the therapies we normally offer and we are in no way less responsible (or liable....) than we are during full treatments in our usual setting. A consultation like this doesn't take long and gives people great confidence and reassurance in your professionalism and in your concern for their well-being.

Apologies if I misread it too - I assumed 'consent' as in permission, not 'consult' as in listing conditions/personal details. At taster days I have worked at over the years, we have supplied a laminated list of conditions that should not be treated, and interested people read it and assured us that they have none of the above - disclaimers are unnecessary. Consent is not usually required at a public event, and if children are involved, it is a 'given' that they must have a guardian on hand.
