I agree that once the virus is here, it stays here. However, people are not respecting it and not following guide lines to prevent the spread, Lockdowns work only if people actually follow guideline and rules, by breaking them it can harm others by not knowing that COVID is able to spread without being aware that you’re infected. As someone who works at the hospital, we are tired of seeing patients coming in due to COVID on top of other emergencies in the hospital. People also argue about how we have so many beds in the hospitals combined, but if you think about people coming in for COVID alone, yeah there is enough, but they tend to forget how busy it already is PRIOR to COVID. Now with COVID we are wasting PPE and energy just to combat a disease that is preventable if people understood statistics and how viruses actually function. Other countries who wore masks before COVID (example: Japan, Korea, and other Asian countries uses masks when they’re sick or for fashion), is able to recover much faster.
The role of community-wide wearing of face mask for control of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic due to SARS-CoV-2
I also hate how people are mentioning the statistics of the virus and saying how it has a high chance of recovery and low death rate. These people are missing the big picture, because if we are able to contain it by wearing masks that prevents the spread of out mucosal droplets to surfaces or people, we are able to stop this RNA virus a lot faster. That’s like saying I don’t need a condom to prevent STI/AIDS because I don’t see any physical symptoms in my one night stand partner or you don’t believe in it due to misinformation. Even if scientific studies shows how effect condom is in preventing sexual diseases. Just wear a mask and stop ur droplets from spreading even if you’re not feeling sick, it’s a extra precaution for this PREVENTABLE asymptomatic virus. I’m fucking out here typing and looking at research papers like I’m back in my university career...
fuck sakes people making me angry while reading comments, when I have to work 12 hour shifts in a hospital environment due to misconception and lack of knowledge in looking for information that has CREDIBLE sources. Educate yourself and find proper sources. stay alert not anxious people.

example from scholarly articles:
Transmission of SARS-CoV-2 by asymptomatic individuals has been clearly documented, a mathematical models suggest that 40-80% of transmission events occur from people who are presymptomatic or asymptomatic (
Covid-19: should the public wear face masks?)
Healthcare workers usually wear masks to protect themselves from patients with respiratory infections. At the population level, wearing of masks by infected individuals may be more important, helping to retain contagious droplets, aerosols, and particles that can infect others and contaminate surfaces. Indeed, surgical masks substantially reduce emissions of influenza and (common cold) coronaviruses in exhaled breath,
7 and in one controlled experiment masks decreased transmission of tuberculosis from humans to guinea pigs by 50%. (

Abstract An outbreak of pneumonia caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that started in Wuhan, China, at the end of 2019 has become a global pandemic. Both SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV enter host cells via the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, which is...

first one is good read to understand mechanism of the virus and injuries to other organs with ACE2 receptor.
TLDR: ACE2 is highly expressed in various organs and tissues, SARS-CoV-2 not only invades the lungs but also attacks other organs with high ACE2 expression. The pathogenesis of COVID-19 is highly complex, with multiple factors involved
