What's the pros and cons of taking credit cards.How many of you accept credit cards?Visa, discover, MC, AE What's the opppinion out there?etc.

Pro's:EVERYONE uses debit cards nowAble to grab that impulse purchase (retail, gift cert, etc)More people are able to purchase large packages of massage treatmentsFlex pay accounts are starting to use actual credit cards for reimbursementsCON'S :EVERYBODY uses debit cards!  :Rent of equipment ($25 - $40 per month)3% of sales goes to handling feesand the biggest con for my office... can not hide that income - Cash was easy to hide, credit card sales are not.We have accepted credit cards for 4 years now, and it is a big bonus for the clients.  Average credit card sales are about $3000 per month.  At $50 a treatment, they rack up their frequent flier miles quick!

As soon as I started accepting plastic, my sales went up. As for hiding money, I take my business seriously and taking credit cards is a way to present a more legitamate and professional front to my massage business.  I use Cell Charge.  My partner is a member of ABMP and got an even better deal.  I can use it for my outcalls too by processing via my cell phone.  The website is: http://www.cellchargemerchant.com.  I studied up on these companies for two months before I chose CellCharge, and it was by far and away the best deal.  No contract, equipment, or monthly minimum.  Check them out.

I curently only aceept credit cards via my web page.  Paypal is who I use.  They are secure, simple and have boosted my sales as well.

I use Paypal at my website too.  If a client wants to use a credit card, they just go to my website prior to their scheduled appt. and pay for the service and I record that and put receipt in their file.No equipment and it's great for gift certificate sales.  It's a 2.9% charge plus 30 cents per transaction.  Cheaper than running a 2nd phone line for a card swiper, no paper to buy, etc.
