Crossing on Probation ?

He will probably get away with it, but I recommend he not risk it.

A parole/probation agent can get border crossing records years later. So he's at risk of going to jail on a violation as long as he's on parole/probation. The last thing he needs is a wife, friend, etc. turning him in at some future date, etc.

To leave US while on probation. I did and they didnt catch me ! I say go for it= I wouldnt ask permission.

If he can sell a story to his probation officer _wedding, sick relative,etc and said officer is cool with it, then he shouldnot have any difficulties getting permission. he can motion up his case in court, and most of the time judges will not object. Specially if he has done well with his other probation conditions!

i don't know what kind if probation ur friend is on but i am on probation for DUI and have crossed both the US-Canadian border and Mexico a few times. Never had I encountered a problem except one time when i was crossing the border in Vancouver. The Canadian officer asked me if i ever been in trouble with the law. i said yes and told him that i was arrested for DUI. i was detained for a couple hours for a back ground check. eventually he let me in. you should never lie if you are asked by an officer. but again it depends on what kind of probation it is, formal or informal. Informal is where u don't have to report to ur probation officer. In that case, u can go any where u want.

They definitely check nearly everyone's ID...I know sometimes they just look at my passport without scanning it. I believe it is best to comply with his probation as no one wants to be violated.

Another thought would be to ask his probation officer for permission...maybe say he wants to visit a TJ dentist to save money.

I have a friend that is currently on probation. When you're on probation, you're not allowed to leave the county you are in and never less your state.

Does anyone know if you're on probation, is that detected when you cross?
He's scared to cross and then get a violaion for crossing.
