While Major League Baseball‘s Field of Dreams game was full of spectacle, tradition, and pageantry, that didn’t stop Chicago Cubs first base coach Mike Napoli from having a little crass fun at the expense of one of the team’s players.
During the introduction of Thursday night’s game between the Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds at the legendary ballpark in the cornfields, Napoli decided to pull a little prank on Cubs catcher Yan Gomes. Napoli grabbed a massage gun and casually aimed it at Cubs catcher Yan Gomes in a very sensitive spot between his legs.
The hilarious event was caught on camera.

It’s unlikely Napoli’s prank caused any kind of actual pain to Gomes since the catcher was surely wearing a protective cup, as all baseball players do, but Gomes’ reaction was still quite humorous.
Napoli’s massage gun “cup check” wasn’t the only thing from Thursday night’s broadcast that caught the attention of the MLB world. The baseball world also had plenty to say about a hologram of Harry Caray singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the seventh inning stretch, with most agreeing it was extremely creepy and offputting.
All in all, the Field of Dreams broadcast was entertaining and gave baseball fans plenty to talk about, even aside from the actual game.
