Cultural events in Edmonton alberta?

What are some cultural and/or intellectual events in edmonton on a weekend? Me and my father wish to travel to this city because it is the closest major city around, and wish to attend some functions that would be enjoyable for both of us. I have much of an interest in meditation and the tibetan culture and have found an event related, however my father is not majorly interested in this area of culture. He is a very musical person who plays guitar and likes things such as the blues, country, reggae, rock and basically anything non electronic. we are both interested in science, technology and informative things. Would you know of any all ages events to attend on a weekend?
haha, west edmonton mall is of a decent size but in terms on content, they fill it with awful stores and poor excuses for entertainment.
