Not exactly free but released from El Hongo, and taken to La Playas. I believe they are now talking about 2 weapons that were found in his home (allegedly) and match ballistics for murders.

Well, Dear Jorge went free this morning, it seems the 88 guns found at his home, was not enough evidence to keep him locked up.

Yes.

His father started out as a school teacher who entered politics. He ended up an extremely wealthy man. Jorge Hank's fortune doubled during the period he was mayor; he's now a billionaire.

At the end of his administration one often heard, "he sold Tijuana to the narcotraficantes." Corruption under his administration was the worst I've experienced.

His former bodyguard is in prison for murdering a journalist who was very critical of him. Everyone thinks he ordered the "hit" but nothing has been proved.

He's shrewd. His charitable handouts, the soccer team, and the jobs he's created have made him very popular with the "lower classes."

He is a very personable, charismatic individual. His supporters will say something like, "he's no saint, but...".

So is he really as corrupt as the media and the mongering community make him out to be?

Personally, I never liked him but since he's the owner of the Xolos and for the first time ever, Tijuana has a first division soccer team, even when Hank is a crooked and corrupt politician, I would like to see him beat the charges so he can keep pumping money into the Xolos and keep them playing with the big boys.

Presently a guy that has created many jobs and making moves to improve the general economy of Tijuana.

Bizarre. What do they see in this guy? A friend of the working man? A hero who fights for their rights?

Or maybe they are just pissed off at the PAN?

The turnout was huge. The march tied up traffic for a couple of hours.

Just in case anyone's confused, Zona Rio is no the same as Zona Norte. It's a shopping (not red light) district a couple of miles away across the river. Some thing like this could affect traffic and border crossing, but it's not like it was happening right outside Adelita.

This is gaining steam by the minute. It will be huge. I would recommend to miss Zona Rio tonight.

I've been told by a member of the PRI party that a demonstration in support of Jorge Hank is being planned for tomorrow, Tuesday June 7, 2011. The plan, I'm told, is for the demonstrators to assemble in Plaza Rio about 3:30 p.m. and, once assembled, march on the prosecutor's office demanding that charges be dismissed against Hank.

PRI loyalists are very upset; however, I can't tell how will organized the demonstration is. So I don't know what type of numbers well turn out for the march.

Obviously, this could impact traffic entering Tijuana and in the Zona Rio area.
