FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- Forsyth County officials confirmed, Friday, that a massive operation targeting massage parlors around the county ended with five closed permanently and several others cited.

The operation follows the passage of a new county-wide ordinance on the establishments that went into effect on Jan. 1.

Deputies previously went to these locations to announce a grace period to get into compliance with the new ordinance.

On Friday, the deputies returned to 15 parlors that had not been made changes to suit the new local laws.

Of those, 18 citations were issued to 10 parlors and five were closed outright and will not be allowed to re-open.

More were required to close for the day until they comply with the new requirements.

The exact violations are not yet available, but officials with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office released a list of requirements for any massage parlor in the county.

And those requirements paint a picture of the types of acts local government appear to prevent.

Officials said all parlors must receive a permit from the sheriff's office and a licensed massage therapist must be present while the business is open.

Employees must also be fully clothed and "not wearing inappropriate clothing."

They also can't be open between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. and beds or mattresses are not allowed.

In addition, windows cannot be blocked or covered and customers can only enter and exit through the front door.
