designing a logo

It is time I had a real logo.

Any tips?? Where do I go to have one designed?? I have a basic idea in my head, I just need a pro to make it look good. I want to use it on my business cards, advertising, and eventually have it emblazened on my building and/or window (when I get my own place.)

You need to find a designer that you can trust. Don't know one? I know a few.

Creative Ad Solutions 800-793-4717 http://www.creativeadsolutions.com also do a great job.

Barb will be less expensive...but, call them, drop my good name a few times, you will find both to be very friendly and helpful...and if you experience otherwise let me know, and I'll stop referring them!

What can I expect a logo design to cost?

I have seen some online sites where you design your own logo with templates for under $200, but I could never find something I liked. I found there was always a little something I would like to change but couldnt because the software was limited. Little things couldnt be changed.

I paid about 450.00 for mine for my coffee biz. I went to a one man show kinda guy. I know there are online things etc cheaper but I like to be able to see the person whos working on it for me. He made it in all kinds of formats so I could do anything from letter head to vehicle logos.To keep cost down have an idea what you want. Start looking at fonts you like. Make sketches of ideas. Also pick colors that won't cost you extra to mix when it comes to printing.

They did a great job! And the process was fun! I bought a package. they also designed my business cards, envelopes and stationary as well as printed 500 free business cards for me all for $579.00 I has a $50 off coupon too.

I highly recommend them. My friend referred me to them as well.

Before you buy anything...take a look at Laughing BIrd.
Go to their webiste. Sign up on their forum and you can post a question about what your logo could be.
You have all those creative posters working on it at the same time....you like something, you can arrange with the designer to buy it.
Also, they have free (bare bones) software - the LOGO CREATOR -- you can DL and design your own. If you make something you truly like you have to unlock(buy) it form them.
Worth the time.

I've used designcontest.net for a website and a logo and I love the service. Designers "compete" for your business by posting their ideas BEFORE you pay.

I have a friend who went to school for graphic design. I told her what I want and when I need it by. If she can do it when I need it by, I will be using her design. Otherwise, I will be using logoworks.

And then I will need a to have someone put it on vinyl sticky to put on my window. Lucky me, I know someone who has a silk screen and embroidery shop who can do it for less than $100. Otherwise, it will cost me alot more. My friend said up words of $300 to $400. I lucked out!!

I designed my own using software from LaughingBird. I now use it on all of my Business promotional materials. I use a different, more laid-back design for t-shirts, caps etc.
