Hi, has any one out there had a successfull discectomy?
I have a prolapsed disc L5/S1
My symptoms are:- very little muscle use in right buttock, right thigh, right calf, and next to none in right foot.
Some numbness in right buttock, right leg, total numbness in right heel.
I have no pain at all when sitting or lying down, some pain in right ankle after walking, but bearable.
Someone please say they have had it done and it was a compleat success.

There is another thread under back problems called 'discectomy-after the operation'.
There are lots of people there who have had lumbar disc surgery, some still suffering, some not doing so bad.
I hope that we can be of some assistance over there!

I had exactly the same level affected! My treatment was under Mr Bowden in Oxford and my back feels great now with no signs or anything. I'd recommend him any time!
