Do straight guys call their gay friends in the middle of the night to chit-chat?

All jokes aside, as the gay guy receiving the phone call, it makes me wonder.
I guess I'm not used to people calling me at that hour so, I don't know. I'm sure it was innocent enough. Just makes me think though. I didn't mind the call.
It was 12:30am and we just discussed nonsense. Just to talk.

Yes! If your friends know you're gay, and they don't mind, then it's not gonna make you any different than their straight friends.
I've been called by some of my straight friends on various ocassions for different reasons.
Is it possible that your friend is gay or "curious"? - Of course, but that doesn't mean he is, just let it go and see how he acts around you.

I'm not sure about that unless the guy is suffering from insomnia and would really like to talk to someone. If I'm the guy who received the call I wouldn't think much more than just a simple chat unless that day is my mating season.

I would think not. It's hard to find a good straight friend, one that truly creates a relationship with you and keeps it; even more so if they felt comfortable enough to call their gay friend at that time. Awfully fishy, if you ask me...

I can't claim to be straight, but if the phone rings after about 9pm, someone's butt had better be on fire. I extend the same courtesy. After about 9, I only call if I know someone will be awake or if I have an emergency.

The late night, unexpected calls I've made in the middle of the night have ranged from "I've been in a wreck," to "I'm in jail, find a bondsman."

The calls I've recieved in the wee hours have been nothing short of surreal. "Go pull out the JetStar, fuel it, leave the truck connected in case they need more fuel in the aux tanks,....Have you been drinking? Try not to breathe on the boss." and "I got my truck stuck in my yard, can you come winch me out?" and there's always "We burned something up, get to the jobsite now!"

Of the funnier things I've done with a phone was send my first text message. There may have been a few drinks involved on my end. Evidently, it was also their first text. I seem to have interrupted what I can only describe as an intimate moment. They broke it off to find the source of the noise and called to cuss me out once they found the text. (How was I to know they'd be doing the hibbidy dibbidy when I sent the text?! It isn't like they posted a schedule for the horizontal mambo!)

Actually, I really did get a call from a straight friend at about 10PM.

He's a nice enough guy and quite straight. He merely has some mental health issues such as depression and I will always listen to him. .

In your case, I don't know the content of the call. If you're implying he might be gay, I don't think it means that. I could be wrong though, because I don't know him. Based on that alone... naa not enough to say he's gay.
