Does the oil smell?

Just curious because I can't really smell that well, after getting a massage and taking a good shower, does one still smell like oil? Am I going to work oblivious smelling like a deep fryer or is it pretty unnoticeable?

No, you can smell some of the oils, even after you shower 100%. Unless of course you use some Old Spice Double Extra Strong Ox Hair Body Wash, then you will just smell like a barn. And if you always smell like a barn then your SO won't mind.

Some oils they use are even scented and some aren't however even through they are not scented at least some still leaving you smelling a bit like a mix between sun tan oil (if they even have that anymore) and vegetable oil. so buyer beware.

If you have a SO, best to ask no oils or bring your own, the exact kind you have at home already so it won't be a foreign smell entering in your home.

Interesting, think maybe me smoking might have masked it (I hope). Quit and I need a new plan. I like when they do your back like at Strathcona under the blanket with no oil. Will they do the front with no oil if you ask?

Old Enron trick. On the way home gas up your car ….but get a smidge of gas on hand from nozzle. The gas will mask any smell.

Most places I haven't noticed a smell. XP used to use canola oil with a distinct smell but I'm pretty sure they use grapeseed oil now. Fancier places like LauraEdmonton use a lightly scented oil. But I think grapeseed oil is common for most places.

I did some reading and that Grapeseed Oil is supposed to be pretty scent free. Just don't want someone else to point out to me that it does.
No oil on the back and localized on the front probably wouldn't be a bad thing.

Anyone else with a good nose please post...

Yeah, XP changed their oil, and for the better. No odour and easier to wash off. They really do take feedback to heart.

The almost 3 litre bottle of massage oil you get from the massage supply store ranges from $80 to $120 now so it's quite expensive to use liberally. $9 for a brand-name decent canola oil 4 litre jug is cheaper relatively but way more expensive than before for cooking. Baby oil leaves a scent behind but many places I go still use it. It stays on your clothes forever. Tide doesn't eliminate it either. So I always wear shirts and pants I don't mind parting with soon.

I've only ever seen baby oil at an amp before. If that was at a massage place they need to put up a warning sign. Even guys without an SO don't want that smell.

I get the economics of it, it's nice that some places care. Many places likely don't or don't know. When your out for thrill of the hunt, don't want to wind up with thrill of the skunk.

Never thought to ask, but now I'll have to pose the question of what oil they use. I don't know if bringing your own oil is like that guy that brings his own pool cue to the bar. Or maybe it will give them some ideas. Time will tell what I do

BYOO (Bring your own oil) is a very slippery slope I do not want the industry to slide towards.
