Make them non-transferable, limit one per customer and not combinable with other offers, or something to that effect.

I would keep the dollar amount smaller....something to use toward a purchase, particularly if you are hoping to make regular clients of the customers.

Why not just make it valid for any session greater than 60 minutes, plus what R&R said about non-transferable, no cash value, one per visit, etc. I would even include an exp. date.

They are getting these for free, yes? If so, then I can't see why anyone could be upset if there are limitations?

I donate a lot, it is a great tool for marketing. I limit it to 1/2hr session and if they want an hour they can pay me the difference. This has work quite a bit. And if they only want to come for the 1/2hr then it isnt taking up a lot of time.

Be sure to stipulate non-transferrable,no cash redemption and a expiration date on the GC, I just had a bad experience with one.

I started out with $20-off, then tested $15-off and have come to the conclusion that I don't get any more or less people coming in off these gift certificates at $10-off.

I did a huge theory research on this and it's all been basically the same for any dollar amount off. I hope to someday put my little research in our Research section, but alas *hand to forehead* I have not done so yet.

Limiting them to new clients wont work well since there are about 4 or 5 ladies in the league who have been in by me at least once in the last three years. Some are close friends and some are just regular people.

No problem - just telling you what my small GC's look like in case you were looking for ideas to work with. No one says they have to be limited to first-timers.
