Don't panic, we're nearly there.

I am getting kinda bored this week of people telling me it's gonna be a bad high season based on Bangla being a bit quiet. These people fall roughly into two groups, regular visitors, who know just everything about doing business here right? And new business owners. Let me put some minds at rest here and encourage you to get ready for the onslaught.
The two weeks immediately before Christmas are always bad, very few people go on holiday in the two weeks just before Christmas. European school holidays and work holidays etc are all dependent on what day Christmas falls on. This is also true about tourist arrivals here.
If Christmas is midweek, people arrive the weekend before, if Christmas is at the weekend, the big arrivals are split between the weekend before and the Friday before. This has been true for my entire 12 years in this business here in Patong. So don't panic, bear out this week, give yourself a rest because from the 20th onwards it's gonna go mental and stay there for a few months. All indications are that this season will be a big one, ignore the doom merchants, Phuket and especially, Patong is still the best tourist product in the world, repeat that phrase often, to everyone you know.
Flames and rants will be treated with the joy I normally reserve for kittens.
