Draping questions

I am new to massage school (started 8/1) so I know a lot of my question will be all about the practice...but...I am also wondering if there are any good videos online that I can watch some of the draping? I go to UCMT, so I don't know if they teach "their" version or if it's an industry standard. The few videos I have seen seem to drape just a little different than I am being taught. We're only 3 or 4 classes in, so like I said, I know it may just be me being new, but I am a perfectionist and don't want to sit around while I'm waiting for someone to give me some input on my draping techniques.

There are MANY different ways to drape, so don't worry about it too much. Learn the methods taught at your school and try to become skillful with them. Ask questions, observe closely, and practice. Later you will have the opportunity to learn and/or experience alternative draping methods, and you will find some of them more to your liking.

I agree with Jason, pay attention to how your school teaches it, because that is what you will be tested on. Later on you can learn other techniques and what suits you.

My old school had some silly draping methods that I never used outside of class. Among other things they wanted us to slide a handtowel under the sheet to do a breast drape and then slowly drag the sheet down off the towel without dragging the handtowel with it ( which it always did) they would not allow you to lift the sheet off, it had to be pulled. It was the most complicated breast drape I have ever seen, but its how they wanted it done.

I went to UCMT as well, and you'll learn a lot of different draping techniques as you go through more classes. Each instructor has their own way they like to do it, and as long as it's professional, allows for privacy and function, and you are able to get it done smoothly without being too awkward or spending too much time on it, they shouldn't be too picky. They weren't with me, anyway.
