Drinks in Dragon

Most bars and gogo's in Patong have a tab system going when you order drinks but in Dragon agogo they always look for payment on each round of drinks ordered. Its not a big deal but just a bit annoying getting out the cash etc (especially when a little mao) each time you order a round.

Next time I am in there I will ask them if they will run a tab but has anyone ever ran a tab in there?

Dragon seems to have a very inconsistent billing policy / system.....

One day bill, next day paying up after avery drink.

Also, check your bills when running one, stories on the street from a few 'locals' suggest some padding. Incidental but it seems to happen.

Maybe pay as you go might be not such a bad idea...

And, reason for not adding bills might be with the staff. They know the total tip is likely higher is every drink is paid for seperately. I think the management needs to get a grip on the staff, IMHO.

Never had a problem in Dragon - yes the waitress usually brings the bill but you ask for a tab she will bring back the tab pot. Not had any issue with 'padding' there either.

I think personaly its better to pay after every drink.... It may be more of an inconvienience but its safer.... very little chance of getting ripped off... when you have had a fair few and lost count (it does happen on occasion) Who knows if anyone has added a few extra in there..... Im not saying they do.... But just safer that you pay after every drink.... Just my opinion tho

As an Aussie, the whole tab thing doesn't worry me.

No bars I know of over here run a tab system......With the exception being a restaurant/s.

It's quite a novelty thing for me when I go to LOS, using the tab system.

I couldn't see the tab system working over here.............There'd be too many arguments at settling time.

I generally would only be in Dragon for an hour or so (at a time), so I am not too worried about the bill being padded. Next time I'm in there I will simply ask for a bill bucket.

I just assumed after being asked for the money up front for the drinks the very first time I went in there last year that that was their policy. I never even thought of asking for a tab. Then again its just another demonstration of how stoopid I can be!!:mad2:

Unless my favourite waitress is in there, I usually just pop outside and buy a Tiger draft at 65 baht in the bar by the pool tables. No tip required. No questions asked.

Maybe the reason to do this is to ensure that you always have enough "small notes" to give to they girls. :biggrinlo

One night I went over there to meet Marc26, Hobbsy, and one other BM. I was late getting there and the guys all had tabs but they wanted me to pay for my drink immediately. I told them I was with the other 3 BM's. The waitress even brought over a manager to try to get me to pay. I told them I would run a tab and when the manager finally understood that I was with Marc26 and Hobbsy he said it was o'k.

Took about 10 minutes before they figured it out.

I went there almost every night for one month, and sometimes I had to pay up front and other times they just put a tab in the bin!? I asked why and they told me when there are lots of customers they will demand payment up front, because they can't keep an eye on all the people and are afraid of runners!? Although at some times when I entered and there were a few farangs they still did askfor payment up front! Inconsistent indeed! Only GoGo bars that I can remember where you have to pay first is Dragon and Rockhard, although to my surprise this year they gave me the tab everytime I went to Rockhard!?:what: plahgat

Think it also has to do with the placement of the toilets. Would be fairly easy for a newcomer to make a run for it, whereas regulars are naturally threated differently.

Should be fair if that was the line of devision...
But, people I talk about are 20 year + residents with high exposure to night life in Patong. They should get a bin?!
And, is it the staff who decides that? As imcompetent as they are, I will never trust them to make such a decision in any of my businesses....

I have nothing against Dragon, but simply their billing system is lacking of clarity.

At Rockhard they had a long time policy of direct settlement. But when asking it was never an issue to receive a bin cup. Not for me and neither for new customers.

Has anyone actually been refused a bin if they ask though ??? Maybe I am missing something but it seems a non issue..

I usually get a bin, if they ask for money and I intend to stay for a few drinks I just ask for one, never had any problem not being given one but then again know management and always tend to sit deep within the club. Maybe they like to keep guys close to the door on a tighter leash ??

Seems like a very low importance deal to me ??

I agree.........never been asked to pay upfront anywhere in LOS with the exception of nightclubs

Was thinking the same thing. The only time we used pay per drink was when the navy was in town.
