A massage parlor in East El Paso was shut down after law enforcement officials alleged the business was involved in illegal activity.

The El Paso County Attorney's Office obtained a temporary restraining order against VIP Spa and Massage, 1155 N. Zaragoza Road, alleging that illegal activity has occurred at the parlor for many years, officials said in a news release.

The massage parlor was shut down Friday pending the outcome of a temporary injunction hearing Nov. 28. Officials said County Commissioner Carlos Leon and area businesses and residents had complained numerous times about the business.

Officials said the county attorney and several law enforcement entities documented violations at the establishment, including "operating without a license, employment of unlicensed therapists, people living in the premises, massage therapists dressed in a sexually provocative manner, and complaints of inappropriate touching during the massages."

The case was initiated by the Nuisance Abatement Team of the County Attorney's Office, which addresses community concerns about possible illegal activity.

The lawsuit brought against VIP Spa and Massage "is the result of coordinated work" between the El Paso Police Department Vice Unit, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the West Texas Anti-Gang Center and the El Paso County Attorney's Office, officials said in a news release.
