Effect of introducing a new fish into fish tank?

I've currently got one goldfish living in the fish tank, and she's about 11 years old now. She's been there all her life. I was wondering what the effect would be if I introduced a new, young fish into the tank? Would it have much of an effect on the current goldfish? Thanks.

Some goldfish are peaceful and enjoy the new company. As crazy as it sounds, others attack and are aggressive to the new fish. If you have a big enough tank, you can introduce another. But just make sure you have a back-up plan if the goldfish decides she does not like a new fish in her tank after 11 years.

no effect if your tank is big enough. if its not big enough, ammonia will boom and might kill both ur fish.

They are usually happier when they have others to swim with. Similar types of fish will flock together.

Your goldfish should be ok, just make sure the new fish isn't too small, sometimes the bigger fish will eat them.. just out of instinct.
