WALDOBORO — The Downeast School of Massage held commencement exercises Oct. 24 for eight massage therapists from the 56th graduation class and approximately 50 guests at the school.
Alison Whitlock represented her class by speaking to the audience at graduation. Memories surfaced with laughter, gratitude and tears representing the deep bonding shared by this class over the course of this year, according to a news release from the school.
Nancy Dail, director of the school, delivered an inspiring speech that challenged the graduates to be soulful with their practice and recognize the calling of their vocation. She quoted Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” and suggested that they all take a path that will make a difference in many people’s lives that they touch; to remember that in massage therapy they will have an opportunity to have an impact on the client’s whole person including body, mind and spirit. Dail offered congratulations and best wishes to the graduates. A reception followed the graduation ceremonies.
Graduating were Ashley Davis-Oakes, of Vinalhaven; Virginia Fanelli, of Hope; Ivy Heiser, of Winterport; Laura Kalian, of Manchester; Jessica Leeman, of Bristol; Sarah Rouleau, of Portland; Alison Whitlock, of Belfast; and Renee Setaro, of Appleton.
