Electric table - Do you use one?

Does anyone use an electric table?  

I have been worked on by an MT who has one and loves it.  Makes it easier for his older clients to get on and off.  Adjusted the height throughout the massage and I didn't notice the table moving.  Have also read some of the ads where a few tables meet certain IRS rules for a better tax deduction on its purchase.

I'm considering getting one. ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) approved is what you're referring to. Most lift tables seem to be.  I heard some are noisy.  Please tell us which one your therapist has.  I'd hate to spend $2000 on something that annoys my clients.The Olympus by Golden Ratio is 30" x 73" (too wide for 5'1" therapist?). Wt. capacity is 425. Current price only $999.         Oakworks Performance Lift holds 625lbs. Comes in 27" or 29"  x 73. ADA approved. Low height 26" (too low for 5"1" therapist?).  Current price $1999.

I invested in the Earthlite Ellora lift table and absolutely LOVE it. I opted for it for a few reasons, price being a major one (at the time, it was easily $1,000 less than comperable tables).  I like the fact that it has wheels on one end, so can be lifted at the other end and moved (not super-easy to move, but very possible to move).  It is very quiet and very sturdy - I do Ashiatsu Bar Therapy on it, so am walking on the table during these sessions.I did qualify for the ADA tax credit, and do have clients who are in a wheelchair, and it definately makes it easier for them to get on and off the table.The major reason I purchased it was to be able to adjust my table to fit each client, this has been worth every penny spent, to be working with the table at the best possible height for the best possible body mechanics!Definately look into the Ellora!

Thanks for the suggestion to look at Earthlite's Ellora. I had originally bypassed this one because I would have preferred wood. I like the specs on this one though. 28", 30" or 32";  17"-36" for height, 450lbs; ADA compliant.  Current price $1299.

you mentioned that the table is quiet, is that the motor oporation or just when you are working with people on the table?i may be in the market for a powered table and was looking at the ellora online, you just don't get a good feel for the table in a picture. all the comments you can make about the table would be great.thank you

Yes, the table is VERY quiet!  I love it and am very happy with the purchase.  I know what you mean - you don't get a very good sense of the table by looking at pictures of it online.  My concern was that it didn't look very 'sturdy',  but it's solid.  As I mentioned in my previous post, I do Ashiatsu on it (barefoot massage) and it doesn't budge.If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to answer them!

Just got my Comfort Craft. It's a monster of a table. It moves up and down very silently and has form that allows me to get nearer to the client without them having to move. It also lifts at the middle: great for psoas and lateral stretches. It was my dream table since I became a therapist 6 years ago. Didn't get it before because the cost is very high, but well worth the investment. And my body says thank you, thank you, thank you...

I just received the latest Golden Ratio Spa & Bodyworks catalog and saw their new "Olympus" electric-lift table listed for $999.  Height range is 19" to 41".  It is wood and very nice looking.  I could actually afford this one!  Check it out at http://www.GoldenRatio.com.

In my clinic we have 3 electric tables.  2 have been in use for 5 years and we had considerable problems at first getting them set up - and being in Canada - getting them serviced.  The newest one is from LeverTec - a Canadian company.  I find the structure better than the pedestal lifts (which began to squeek and rattle after 3 years ) and there are a huge number of choices in face rests and arm rest configurations.  They are totally slient when raising or lowering the table - even with the client on the table.  Theyare also lighter - if you need to move them - and can hold as much weight.If you want to make a good investment in your clinic and your career - an electric table is very valuable.  The reduction in stress on your body - being able to adjust for a "thick" client to a "thin" client or from going from prone to side lying - is immediately apparent.

Electric Lift Table Controls

Does the Earthlite Ellora come with controls on two or more sides? This is the biggest point for me in looking for a lift table, that and lack of noise. I already know the Ellora is incredibly quite, I experienced one at an AMTA convention last year..

and if it doesnt come standard with more controls, can you add extras?? And the tilt option, is it manual or controlled?

The Ellora has an option of adding an extra foot pedal to the table for $150.00. The tilt is $100 and is manual. We have 2 of them and love them very much. all in all, a great table! I highly recommend it. If you want more information, email me at [email protected].

the drawback to any kind of single pedestal table is that if you need to climb on the table for any reason (and many of us do) it WILL tip. It is also very tippy when working deeply at either end. Your only option to avoid this is to bolt it to the floor.

Just a warning from someone who's been there with a fancy Golden Ratio.

The scissor-action tables can't possibly tip. They can also often lift more weight.

Thanks, Masthera. It appears to be the same design as the Golden Ratio I have so much trouble with. I wonder if the Earthlite people added extra weight to the base to counteract or maybe something else not evident to avoid this problem? It's good to know.

The GR would be find for doing facials or energy work, but anything with a lot of pressure is a problem. Also, climbing on it must be very careful to position myself directly over the pedestal (not always preferred body mechanics) or it will tip right over on end! :shock:

As an Ellora owner... I have NO problem with it being 'tippy'. I do Ashiastu on it and am constantly walking from one side of the table to the other and it is rock solid & very stable. Really a great table & you can't beat the price!
