Shrewsbury – Seven years ago, husband and wife Andrew and Jill Dudka sought out an opportunity that would enable them to take a strong business model and develop it into a successful business of which they’d be proud. They did just that with Elements Massage in Shrewsbury. Boasting 1,000 members who receive nearly 1,300 massages each month, Elements Shrewsbury is in the top ten percent of Elements franchises nationwide.
“We provide excellent customer service and employ great people. We listen to our customers and employees and we celebrate them regularly,” said Andrew Dudka, co-owner.
While some may be wary of a membership-based service, Elements’ model is both unique and transparent. Members pay $69 monthly and receive one one-hour massage from a licensed massage therapist. A non-member one-hour massage costs $109.
Membership offers even more. If a member misses a month, they can “bank” that massage to use in conjunction with one at a later date or to convert into a gift card for a friend or family member. Membership may be cancelled at any time; no commitment is required.
“However, we’ve seen that when people get into the habit of monthly massage, they tend to stick to it,” Dudka said.
In addition to the “usual” massage therapy modalities, including deep tissue, Swedish and sports massage, Elements offers cupping, an alternative to sports massage that “significantly accelerates muscle healing,” Dudka said. According to the website, cupping “involves using suction cups to utilize negative pressure techniques that help relieve aching muscles, release joint stiffness and reduce inflammation.” Dudka said that people love it.
Dudka said that he and his team are very much looking forward to what’s next: CBD oil.
According to Dudka, Elements is the first national chain in the U.S. to use CBD oil in massages and is being rolled out across all franchise locations on Saturday, June 1.
“CBD oil is a medicinal, organic way to use massage oil. It’s been proven to provide accelerated relief to improve the muscles,” Dudka said.
Research has shown that CBD (which though closely related to THC, the cannabis compound that offers the “high” feeling, but does not contain it) has myriad health benefits including treatment of inflammation and arthritis; some neurological conditions; and skin conditions like psoriasis or acne.
CBD oil at Elements is considered an “add-on,” which is available for an additional cost. Other add-ons, or specialties, include prenatal massage, cupping, aromatherapy, salt stone massage, reflexology and more.
“It’s been an incredible journey. We’ve immensely enjoyed it,” Dudka said.
