From relaxation and rejuvenation to therapeutic relief and personalized therapy, the inviting community offers clients some of the best service in the industry. Patch caught up with John Alexander, owner of Elements Massage Vienna, to learn how the company gives you everything you want most from a massage:
Patch: How long have you been doing business in town or how long has the organization you represent been around in the community?
Alexander: Elements Massage opened in Vienna in 2013 and began with its new ownership in September of 2015.
Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you're in, and how did you get started?
Alexander: If you have ever had a massage yourself, you already know this business was a no-brainer. If not, you should come give us a try. You are in for a treat. Elements Massage provides therapeutic relief from aches and pains, as well as stress relief from the busy pace of life in northern Virginia. We have great systems and teams in place that make Elements an awesome place for owners and clients alike.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Alexander: Professional. Inviting. Relaxing. Community focused.
Patch: What's the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you've faced in your job?
Alexander: Challenges and difficulties are part of any business, but at Elements, we think those are the fun parts. We are a community-oriented team and when we overcome a challenge we all win. It has been great to see the business grow and allow us to be able to give back to the community. We do chair events and give donations to local schools, churches and other businesses as often as possible.
Patch: What's the most satisfying part of your job?
Alexander: The look on our clients' faces after a massage session. Clients come in with aches, pains or stress and walk out feeling great with a smile.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Alexander: We only do one thing, and that is massage. Because we specialize in one thing we are able to hone our craft and offer the best service in the industry. We pair that with a clean, professional environment and we are hard to compete with. In addition, we offer a great membership (called the Wellness Program) that helps you save money if you decide to make massage a regular part of your routine.
Patch: What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given when it comes to success?
Alexander: Success is relative, but oftentimes I try to apply the quote "Happiness is reality minus expectations." If you apply that mentality, you can generally navigate your way to success with business, relationships or anything else you apply it to.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you're working on that you're extra excited about?
Alexander: Yes! We are training our therapists to integrate cupping into our massage sessions. Cupping is a traditional time-honored practice that utilizes the techniques of negative pressure rather than tissue compression. Suction cups are used to help relieve aching muscles and release joint stiffness, reduce inflammation and provide relief for many acute and chronic conditions. We expect this service to be available by summer 2019.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Alexander: We are planning a client appreciation event. Follow our social media pages for updates.
Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your work and business?
Alexander: You can learn more about Elements Massage on our website or follow us on Facebook. You can book a session directly by clicking here.
