Elements Massage

I didn't realize that Elements was a franchise like Massage Envy (with their membership program) until I saw it listed in a thread for massage franchises.

There is one opening about a mile from my office, on a VERY busy road (one of the main roads in the metro Detroit area), and one of my clients keeps bringing it up, "did you see, they put the sign up" and "are you worried?". But after seeing that its a franchise, I guess I can say, no, I'm really not worried. They charge $16 less than I do for a massage, but it will be interesting to see what kind of response there is.

Has anyone else ever heard anything about Elements?

I live in Colorado where Elements originates from. This past summer I had a phone interview with a manager at the Elements that opened in my city. From what I remember it reminded me of what I know of Massage Envy. I think the pay was $16 per massage plus tips. As a newbie I considered working there for a while to gain experience, but in the end I thought it would be best to focus on my own thing for a while. Also if I worked there, I wouldn't be able to do mobile massage in my own city as their contract has a 5 mile radius limit in it.

I was impressed that the manager I spoke to was a CMT. Hopefully that will be a plus for the MT's who work at that particular Elements.

I constantly see postings on craigslist for jobs at the one in my city. I don't know if that means business is great or if they have a high turnover.

An Elements massage place is opening in Glendale, AZ, near to where I live. The rate for 55 minute massage is $69. I responded to a job advertisement and was told the pay would be "$22-27 per 55 minute massage including tips". You have to carry your own liability insurance, but all other expenses are paid.

That seems like quite a mark-up. I wonder what the pay rate is before tips. That 5 mile no compete thing is the deal killer for me, so I won't probably interview.

But it makes me happy that they're charging so much. Massage Envy is notorious for undercutting private practitioners.
